Difference Between Standard Ranges and Optimal Values
Most standard lab ranges focus on identifying overt disease, but the SK(IN)DEPTH analysis takes it a step further by looking at optimal ranges. These optimal ranges reflect where your body functions best, even if your results fall within the “normal” range according to traditional testing. This can help you to fine-tune your health, identify subtle imbalances, and optimize your skin-healing journey — before they turn into bigger issues.
FAQ
-
Absolutely! Below is a description of each testing option.
The GI-MAP is a comprehensive stool test that provides a detailed analysis of your gut microbiome. It identifies the presence of beneficial and harmful bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses, as well as markers for inflammation, digestive function, and immune response. The GI-MAP is particularly useful for uncovering imbalances that can contribute to skin issues like acne, as well as other health problems such as bloating, IBS, fatigue, and autoimmune conditions.
The DUTCH Complete test provides an in-depth analysis of your hormone levels, including sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), cortisol, and their metabolites. It offers insights into your adrenal health, hormone metabolism, and overall hormonal balance, which can play a crucial role in skin health, energy levels, mood, and reproductive health. This test is ideal for those experiencing hormonal imbalances such as irregular periods, PMS, fatigue, or acne.
Comprehensive blood work offers a snapshot of your overall health by measuring various biomarkers like glucose, lipids, thyroid function, vitamins, and minerals. This type of testing helps identify imbalances in areas such as blood sugar, cholesterol, thyroid, liver function, kidney function, vitamin D levels, and more. It’s particularly beneficial for detecting underlying issues that may not be apparent but could be contributing to symptoms. Blood work is an essential part of a well-rounded health assessment, allowing you to monitor key health markers and optimize your wellness plan based on objective data.

Yes! Functional testing like the DUTCH and GI-MAP can be ordered to almost everyone all over the world - with a few exceptions! On the other hand, blood work can only be ordered for those in the US (with the exception of those in NY, NJ, or RI). If you are unsure about your location, please contact us by clicking here before placing your order.

Blood work measures hormone levels at a specific moment in time, giving you a “snapshot” of what’s going on with your hormones, like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid markers. It’s great for seeing whether any of your hormone levels are high or low, but it doesn’t show the bigger picture of how your body is using or breaking down those hormones. It’s like checking your bank account balance - you know how much you have right now, but not necessarily where it’s going or how it’s being spent.
The DUTCH test, on the other hand, is like a deep dive into not only how much money is in your account but also how it’s being used, saved, or spent. It measures your hormone levels throughout the day and looks at how your body metabolizes and breaks down these hormones. This test provides more information about your cortisol patterns (stress hormone), hormone metabolism, and adrenal function. If you want a more comprehensive view of how your hormones are behaving over time and how they’re being processed in your body, the DUTCH test offers deeper insights than blood work alone.

I recommend holding off on ordering testing until you're about three to six months postpartum/after you are done with breast-feeding. During the early months after giving birth, your hormones are naturally fluctuating as your body adjusts. Waiting gives you a clearer, more accurate picture of your baseline health, ensuring the test results reflect a more stable hormonal environment for better insights.
-
Absolutely, you can still complete this testing while taking acne medications such as Accutane, spironolactone, birth control, antibiotics, or others. Prior to your test, you'll receive a form where you'll need to list any medications you're currently using. These medications won’t skew the results, but they may influence certain markers, which I will carefully consider when interpreting your analysis.
-
This does not include a personalized treatment protocol, as I won’t have a full understanding of your individual case or health history. It's designed to provide you with valuable data and insights, but without an in-depth consultation, it doesn’t allow for the creation of a tailored treatment plan. You’ll receive an in-depth interpretation of your results during our phone call appointment, but any specific recommendations or protocols would require further one-on-one work.
Please note that I am not managing your labs or health condition, and this service should not be relied upon for diagnosis or medical management.
-
The GI-MAP and DUTCH test kits will be conveniently shipped directly to your home with everything you need to complete the testing - including a pre-paid shipping label to send your sample back to the lab. For blood work, you'll receive a requisition form via email to have it done at a local LabCorp location. Be sure to check that there is a LabCorp facility near you to ensure smooth testing access.
If you have any questions about how to complete your sample or need assistance with the collection process, please reach out to the customer service team of the test kit provider directly. Their contact information will be included in your test kit materials, and they are equipped to guide you through the process!
-
Yes! It’s also highly beneficial for anyone dealing with hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, or related symptoms - making it a great choice for anyone looking to uncover the root causes behind their health concerns.
-
Like my 1:1 program, I am not able to accept insurance for this service. Many have success using their HSA/FSA but it’s not something that I can guarantee.
-
This depends on your location! On average, it takes less than a week for your test kits to arrive to your home. Once you ship your samples back to the respective labs, depending on shipping and how backed they are with samples - this timeline can vary. Once I receive your completed lab results, I will reach out to you within 3 business days to schedule your lab review appointment. If I am out of town or unavailable, this timeline may be extended.
