three habits to let go of to heal your skin
What if I told you that letting go of certain habits is just as crucial for healing your skin? Here are three common habits that may be standing in the way of your clear skin goals…
1. Feeling Like You Need to Do More
One of the biggest mistakes I see is the belief that healing requires adding MORE - more supplements, more skincare products, more detoxes, more wellness routines. But often, true healing comes from simplifying and focusing on what truly moves the needle for your case. Instead of overwhelming yourself with endless products and protocols, focus on the non-negotiables and get individualized support so you aren’t exhausting yourself.
2. Overthinking Every Food Choice
It’s easy to become hyper-focused on cutting out every possible acne trigger - dairy, gluten, sugar, coffee, eggs, the list goes on - but stressing over food choices can actually make acne worse. Chronic stress leads to increased cortisol levels, which can drive oil production and inflammation. Instead of fearing food, focus on overall balance, healing your gut microbiome, eating blood sugar balanced meals, and intentional daily stress management. An occasional treat won’t ruin your skin when you’re focusing on all of the pillars of health consistently. Leaving room for flexibility is much more sustainable than obsessing over perfection.
3. Waiting for the Perfect Time to Start
Too often, people (myself as well years ago) delay making changes because they’re waiting for the 'right' time - after a vacation, once work slows down, when they feel ready…but healing doesn’t require perfect conditions. Progress happens when you start with small, consistent changes, even when life is busy. The best time to prioritize your skin is now. Progress happens when you work with your current reality (not against it) - and build the tools and resiliency for your skin to thrive EVEN when life doesn’t go as planned.
all in all…
Letting go of the need to overdo, overthink, and wait for the perfect time, you create space for SUSTAINABLE and long-term skin healing. Focus on small habits and trust that your efforts will compound over time..your skin CAN heal!
